Shine A Light 2024 Fundraising Concert Call for Artists for Logo & Poster Design
The Light Up The Queen Foundation is dedicated to supporting our local community through direct financial support of high-quality programs in arts and music education. Our flagship event, the Shine a Light annual fundraising concert, which is held at The Queen Theatre in downtown Wilmington, brings together over 60 of the area’s best musicians, who volunteer their time and talent to put on a world-class concert to raise money to support the great music education work of existing local organizations.
Each year the concert has a theme – generally a tribute to a particular year of music. Local design agencies have created the visual “brand” for each of these concerts in the past few years. But since so much of our work is community-sourced and community-facing, the Light Up The Queen Foundation is putting out a Call for Artists competition for the logo, poster design, and other design collateral materials for this year’s event. This year’s theme is Shine a Light on 1984 – performing 40+ of that year’s best songs.
The design contest is open to artists of all levels of experience. The only requirement is that you must be able to produce final digital files in vector and/or PDF format.
To enter, participants must submit a logo design and a poster design, following specifications below. The winning entry will be voted on by the organizing committee and the winner will receive a cash payment of $1,000, 2 VIP tickets to the event, and public recognition at the event and on social media.
The winner will then be asked to produce a final version of the logo and poster design (pending committee feedback/input), to produce 2-4 similarly-themed advertisements (social media and print), and to produce 4-6 similarly-themed hangtags/passes for the event.

Timeline:
- All entries must be received online by midnight Tuesday, August 15, 2023
- Voting will take place by the committee and decision made by September 1, 2023
- Winner will receive list of additional deliverables needed by September 15, with those deliverables due by October 1, 2023
- Tickets for the event go on sale January 1, 2024
The award to the winning entrant will be paid upon completion of all final deliverables. All rights to the finished work product produced for the Light Up the Queen Foundation are retained and owned exclusively by the Light Up the Queen Foundation upon the contest winner’s receipt of the full cash payment. The Light Up the Queen Foundation is not obligated to select a winner and reserves the right to not move forward with any of the design entries submitted.
